Meet Alan W. Hinden, CEO - Inventor

Born with an innate sense of perfectionism & the ability to develop
solutions for problems, Alan can start using any product or piece of
software and find bugs in its design & function within 10 - 15
minutes.
Although he is very technical & analytical, he can put himself into
the mindset of the average consumer, (those who still can't program
a VCR, or can barely understand what the scrollbar on a computer
screen is for) and determine what needs to be done to improve
user-friendliness & functionality.
One
of his greatest talents is to quickly discover the areas of a
product's development that were either carelessly overlooked or
thrown together to meet marketing deadlines. These are the things
that typically annoy consumers and cost companies future sales when
customers lose confidence in the companies that make the offending
products.
One
of his most frequent outcries is, "Didn't anyone bother to use the
prototype for a few days, BEFORE going into production?" Alan has
the ability to test products, so mistakes can be fixed BEFORE
customers can get aggravated.
Alan started
experimenting with energy at the age of 5 when he was fascinated by
fireflies & then accidently stepped on one. What was left, was a
brightly glowing smudge on the sidewalk... imagine the
possibilities... we won't go into the gory details. But many years
later, someone else imagined those possibilities & developed the
chemi-luminescent light sticks you can buy today.
When Alan was in
the 4th grade, when he was 10 years old,(1960). His first invention
was the Electric Phone Pad, which won second prize in the school
science fair, only to be beaten out by someone who had a lot of help
from his father! It won 4th place in the school district. This was
the first device that allowed people to write in the dark, because
as soon as any writing instrument touched the paper, a light came on
to illuminate it. Of course, today, there are actually pens with
lights built in.
Soon after, he
started experimenting with television sets & learned how to fix
them. Intrigued by the high voltage circuits in TVs & the old
Frankenstein movies, he built a hand cranked high voltage Van de
Graaff generator in his room. He then added a high speed motor and
was able to generate long sparks and millions of volts. He &
his friend Neil then added high voltage capacitors from old TVs to
the equation and found that they could transport high voltage
electricity anywhere. But this precursor to the modern day stun gun
only held one high voltage jolt for a limited time. They then
started playing around with transformers, capacitors & buzzers as
circuit interrupters. They actually built the first compact battery
operated stun gun in 1961. If only they had realized the commercial
potential at the ripe old age of 11...
At age 12, Alan
built a heavy sleeper's alarm clock the night before the school
science fair. His 6th grade teacher gave him a less than an AO, ("A"
Outstanding) grade because she said it was "crude & unimaginative"
compared to the polished reports & dioramas her "favorite" students
submitted. Much to her dismay, the heavy sleeper's alarm clock took
2nd place in the school science fair.
When Alan was in
Jr. High school, he constructed a 4' tall robot, but it wasn't
completed in time for the science fair, but became the talk of the
neighborhood when he completed it.
